Love for Onself, Love for Others

Empower Yourself

Research shows that the height of a girl’s self esteem is before she becomes a teenager. This means that most girls and women are living their lives with suppressed self esteems and are NOT living their lives to their full potential. They are living and walking lives feeling bad about themselves, feeling worthless, and feeling confident-less.

Why is this so, my sisters? We have got to change this trajectory. And it all starts with ourselves. We need to empower our fellow sisters (and brothers too), but most importantly, we need to empower ourselves.

We need to empower our fellow sisters (and brothers too), but most importantly, we need to empower ourselves.

First and foremost, do not compare yourself to others. It is not worth the time, energy, or mental strain. Today, more than ever, it’s SUPER easy to compare yourself to others on social media. Social media tends to “normalize” celebrities and influencers and makes people ask themselves: Why don’t I look like that? Why don’t I have those things? Why is my life not as glamorous? Why don’t I have as many followers or friends?

This simple act of comparison, which we all subconsciously do while scrolling through our social media feeds, has a tendency to play mind tricks on us. (WATCH OUT!)  Although celebrities & influencers are great & wonderful with inspiring us with their travels, fashion, recipes, etc…know that they are still humans, and they too struggle with the act of comparing themselves to others. And also note, that you never truly know what is going on in someone’s life by a single photo or even a single encounter.

By being a ray of light, in a world of darkness, you are able to help inspire people, and as a result, you’re able to inspire & empower yourself.

Don’t play this game of comparison, my friends. It’s just straight up not good for that beautiful mind that you have. In fact, we should do the opposite of comparison…we should empower each other, raise each other up, and help others reach their full potential. It’s amazing how a simple act of love & kindness can empower others. By being a ray of light, in a world of darkness, you are able to help inspire people, and as a result, you’re able to inspire & empower yourself. It all begins with YOU. YOU hold that power…so whatcha gonna do with it?

Let’s change the women self-esteem trajectory, shall we!? Let’s empower our sisters, daughters, granddaughters, friends, and colleagues, and most importantly, let’s empower ourselves.

Love,

Viola Roc
