Dear Friend,
Within the week, I have heard of multiple instances where someone was being downright mean to someone I love. It never ceases to amaze me how mean people can be towards each other. Whether it’s at a workplace setting or a social setting, Ive seen girls tear each other down, laugh at others pettily, make fun of each other in a group setting, yell at one another, etc. Why is this?! Why do people act meanly towards one another?!
Well I have good news and bad news…good news first (because let’s face it, good always trumps bad)…the good news is, is that the reason why someone acts meanly towards you has NOTHING to do with you. When someone acts meanly towards you, know that it is steaming from their own insecurities, doubts, or experiences. Although it’s terrible to be the victim of hate or meanness, this tidbit will hopefully make you feel better, my friend. Because let’s be clear, it is absolutely horrible to be bullied or a victim of meanness; it cuts you to the core, is demoralizing, and downright hurtful. When someone acts meanly towards you, don’t let that hate permeate your soul…divert the action and envision it bouncing off of you. (Aka the phrase: I’m rubber, you’re glue. Whatever you say, bounces off of me and sticks to you.) There’s a lot of truth to this saying; we must envision this happening, because it’s so easy to be brought down when we encounter these bad experiences.
The reason why someone acts meanly towards you has NOTHING to do with you.
This leads me to the bad news…there will always be mean things going on in our world. So it’s best to be prepared…when we recognize this meanness coming your way, know that it has nothing to do with you, and don’t let it permeate your being.
Don’t let ANYONE bring you down with their meanness. Know that you are wonderful. You are loved. And you are a warrior. Don’t forget it, my friend.
Love,
Viola Roc
